Guiding Principles

Faith

Our community is steeped in the traditions of faith.  We open and close all classes with elements such as Bible verses, prayers or benedictions.  We devote the first 30 minutes of each day to the virtues that all Christians strive to walk in as we go deeper in Christ.  We call this virtue formation time, and there are twelve virtues in focus each year for our community.

We encourage students to walk out their faith in their everyday lives.  We also recognize that we as Academic Mentors must be modeling the Faith we are asking of our students.  We also give end of the year awards to students that have been nominated by Academic Mentors on campus as having demonstrated virtue consistently during the school year.

Service

Jesus is our example as the Master Servant Leader. We are called to share our faith in tangible ways with the world around us so they will know we are Christians. We provide students with an opportunity monthly to walk out their faith and virtues as they serve those beyond our community. We partner with various ministries to provide opportunities for students to serve. Service projects can be anything from making dog toys for the SPCA to blankets for Linus Project. We want to show students there are needs beyond our community that they can meet and ways we can be engaged with our communities for God’s glory.

Academics

Academics should be focused on creating students that are able to think analytically and critically about the things that affect themselves and the world around them.  We want to provide ways for students to think, write, and speak persuasively, using the tools of rhetoric and logic.  We ultimately want them to employ these tools for the gospel.

Our academic program is focused on creating a Biblical Worldview; applying the rigor of a classical education for the glory of God.  We hire Academic Mentors that are passionate about the subjects they teach and pass on that passion to them.
